Happy to Sad but Always Grateful

(My Grandparents)
As we may know life is full of ups and downs and its up to us to make the best of our days living. These last couple months may have been the most emotional times I have been through in my life. My year started off with a beautiful service trip to Havana, Cuba with Molloy's International education program. The opportunity was everything I could have dreamt of. I came home with new friends and connected with the people of Cuba\. Shortly after I returned from the service trip, I went on a girls trip with two friends and my cousin to the Bahamas. This happened to be the time where Covid-19 spiked and began to take over the year. While in the Bahamas we began to see the affects on travel. The resort we stayed in was filled with just a handful of people each day. The staff informed us that they were canceling reservations and no longer taking new reservations due to the country beginning their lockdown. This news was very nerve racking because did not know if we were going to be caught in lockdown there. Thankfully, without having to cut our trip short we were able to get out of the country the day before they began their lockdown.
Although, we enjoyed the time we had on our vacation, I remember watching the news there and dreading coming back to the United States. Once coming back I made sure to quarantine away from my family just to take precaution. A couple of weeks after returning home my grandmother fell ill due to Covid-19. We found that she caught it from a church birthday party, where her and about 5 other elderlt people were exposed to the virus. She struggled in the hospital for at least a month before leaving us. During that time we were able to FaceTime her twice to show her we were thinking of her. It was one of the hardest things I had to do, but my family and I were extremely grateful that we had such wonderful nurses willing to give us their personal numbers to connect with our loved one. Now that a couple of months have passed it still does not get any easier thinking about the time cut short with my grandmother. But, as a family we have grown closer and have become emotionally stronger than before. During this time we have learned to appreciate one another and value the time we spend together without sweating the small things in life.

  1. I felt so sad to read about your grandmother. I know how hard to is to lose a grandmother, and the circumstances around covid made it so much more difficult because yo couldn't see her. I hope that your family will continue to heal.
I like your vocabulary and grammar points. Good work!
