Quarantine Lessons

Image
Quarantine Lessons Muttontown Preserve 2020 has been the year of many negative and positive events. During quarantine people played trial and error with many new hobbies. Such as, yoga, bike riding, cooking, cleaning, becoming pet owners, online shopping and so much more. For me personally I found my love for outdoor activities, like hiking, bike riding and my favorite, yoga and meditation practice. With all of the stress 2020 has brought to my family and I, I found that being outdoors made me feel full inside. I began to go hiking with my sister around Long Island to preserves and parks that we never knew existed . There are so many beautiful hidden gems right here on the island. Meditation practices are a very relaxing practice for soothing your mind and body. I believe it is so important to be in touch with your mind and body to understand your yourself from within. For myself, meditation takes me to a place of relaxation and becomes an escape from reality.   Since I am now

Onyx

Image
Onyx was born on October 19th, 2018 and settled into her new home with me on December 23rd, 2018. She is a mixed breed of Boston Terrior and Chuhuahua. She has  large  ears  compared  to her  tiny  body and a  loud   bark  the neighborhood can hear. When Onyx was born, she had all black shiny fur   and looked like a mini black teddy bear. As time went by she began to develop a beautiful brindle color all over her body.  Her name was chosen because of my love for crystals. There are many different types of crystals but the crystal, Onyx worked perfect for her. It is mostly black with spots of brown throughout the surface and is very shiny. The color of the crystal made me even more excited to choose the name for her. The Onyx crystal means to absorb and protect against negative energy. I think the name is great because I combined two things that I love. Vocabulary: Brindle: brownish or tawny with streaks of other color Compare(ed): to look for a similarity or difference  Bark(s): The

Best & Worst Experiences

Image
The Best & The Worst Thinking back on life, there are always the best, the worst and the most embarrassing experiences we always remember. We all go through experiences that teach us lessons to guide us into future experiences. We have no choice in life to experience different events that happen throughout our lifetime. But, it is up to us to either laugh about it, cry about it, or learn from it, or do all three. One of my best experiences I remember was winning 2nd place at the National Championship College Cheerleading Competition in Disney. I remember anxiously holding hands with my teammates, while bowing our heads and hoping for our name to be called. This was just our second year ever competing in the national competition. We were a program that was being built on little experience but great determination . The overwhelming feeling of joy from our hard work paying off is a feeling I could never forget.        Another feeling that I could never forget was the sudden

Embarrassing Much!

Experiences can be laughable moments too, especially when you are around good company. My two close girl friends and I went to Atlantic City for a weekend trip. While there I began to get a stuffy nose and sore throat from sleeping under the hotel air condition. On the second day I woke up with a full on cold. I had a runny nose, watery eyes and sore throat, but I wanted to tough it out for the girls weekend. When we went to dinner we were full of laughs and giggles as always. At the dinner table my friend said something unexpectedly hilarious and I laughed so hard snot flew out of my nose. My two friends started to laugh uncontrollably at me because they couldn’t believe what they just saw. I felt like that entire restaurant saw what happened and I felt completely embarrassed. But of course I could not stop laughing at the whole experience of an accidental “snot rocket” in the middle of our dinner. Thank goodness I was with my two closest girl friends and not on a date.

Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs 2020      Over the summer I went to Saratoga Springs, New York to coach for a week long soccer camp. After camp ended for the day the other trainers and I decided we were going to go cliff jumping. We drove an hour from our hotel to find a beautiful trail we found on an application called AllTrails . On the way we drove through dirt roads with trees surrounding us, it was a perfect view that could be seen in the beginning of a movie scene. Once we arrived we realized the cliffs we were going to were about an hour hike from where we parked our cars. The hike started easy with crossing a small river by jumping from rock to rock. About 20 minuets in the hike turned into a beginners level rock climbing hike. During the hike we were on the slant of the mountain with nothing but a huge lake beside us. We all had a spike of adrenaline when we realized how dangerous it could be. We really did not

You Never Know When Your Past Will Show Up

Life has a funny way of making a circle! I started playing soccer when I was just a youngster, I believe I was about 7 years old. I moved to a new town and this was the sport of my choice. Although, I was a gymnast, cheerleader and ran track, I fell in love with the soccer! I fell so in love that I played for the next thirteen years of my life, on my high school team and a town team. Once I graduated high school I decided I needed a little bit of a change. I remember feeling worn out from the same routine . When I started college took the chance of joining my colleges Competitive Cheerleading Team. It was something different and I knew I would able to catch on because of my gymnastic background. Joining my college cheerleading team was one of the best 3 years of my life. Being apart of that team taught me many life lessons and introduced me to my love for teaching and coaching. I am now entering my 5th year as a high school cheerleading coach and going into my 2nd year as a coll

Happy to Sad but Always Grateful

(My Grandparents) As we may know life is full of ups and downs and its up to us to make the best of our days living. These last couple months may have been the most emotional times I have been through in my life. My year started off with a beautiful service trip to Havana, Cuba with Molloy's International education program. The opportunity was everything I could have dreamt of. I came home with new friends and connected with the people of Cuba\. Shortly after I returned from the service trip, I went on a girls trip with two friends and my cousin to the Bahamas. This happened to be the time where Covid-19 spiked and began to take over the year. While in the Bahamas we began to see the affects on travel. The resort we stayed in was filled with just a handful of people each day. The staff informed us that they were canceling reservations and no longer taking new reservations due to the country beginning their lockdown. This news was very nerve racking because did not know if w
